Laparoscopic Right Colon Cancer Resection with Transvaginal Specimen Extraction (NOSES VIII)

Abstract

NOSES VIII is one of the most difficult techniques in NOSES, because of the anatomic complexity and variation. NOSES VIII is limited to women because specimen extraction can occur only through the vagina. If right colon specimen is extracted from the anus, it will pass through the transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum. Theoretically, it is feasible, but the actual operation is extremely difficult and impractical. The main procedures of NOSES VIII include total laparoscopic right hemicolectomy, extracting specimen from the vagina, and performing side-to-side anastomosis between the transverse colon and ileum under laparoscopy. Unlike circular stapled anastomosis, the total laparoscopic reconstruction of the digestive tract is more complex.
