Risk-Based Engineering

Abstract

Many nuclear plants in the world have been in operation for over 30 years. In fact, in the USA, life extension certification for many NPPs has been obtained from 40 to 60 years and further R&D work is being performed to explore the possibility extending life from to 80 years [1]. Of particular concern is to identify the non-replaceable structural and mechanical components and their degradation mechanisms, and then to develop methods to support estimation of remaining useful life.

The best way to predict the future is to create it.
