Abstract

This paper identifies a collection of teaching knowledge and skills for effective teaching, called core practices. Firstly, the background, history and concept of core practices are introduced. Secondly, under an empirical research paradigm, we conduct three rounds of survey to identify the core teaching practices that are suitable for native teacher. These include finding and recording practices from front-line teachers, clustering and dividing practices by expert teachers, and identifying and defining practices by teacher educators. Finally, we conclude our study with examples, and discuss the future research direction.
