Transliteration of Braille Code into Text in English Language
Braille is specially designed for visually impaired persons which is a particular system of representing information in tactile form. It acts as written communication medium between sighted people and visually impaired. This paper describes a new system to recognize the braille characters in a six-dot pattern from scanned document and thus transliterate in English language. Scanned documents are preprocessed followed by segmentation of braille cells. From the segmented braille cell, centroid of each braille dot is calculated for the computation of Euclidean distance. Later, a lookup table is constructed utilizing Euclidean distance between the braille dots. Thus, the braille characters are recognized and translated to corresponding text.
