Abstract
This chapter covers the issue of multimedia and TCFL by exploring the effects of multimedia visual aids used for teaching Chinese on learning outcomes and attitudes in Philippine secondary school students. The results of the study indicate no significant improvements in the Chinese learning achievements of Philippine students in a high-achieving class over a one-year teaching experiment, but that ability in a low-achieving class were significantly higher than previously. Before employing the multimedia strategies there was no significant difference in learning attitudes towards the Chinese language between the two types of classes. However, after implementation, learning attitudes of the students in the high-achieving class show significant improvement over those in the low-achieving class, although both sets of students demonstrate an improved outcome.
