Abstract
Portal hypertension is defined as:

Portal venous pressure >11 mmHg
-
Splenic pulp pressure >16 mmHg
-
Increase in hepatic venous pressure gradient (wedged hepatic venous pressure minus free hepatic venous pressure, normal range is 7–8 mm of Hg).
