Portal Hypertension in Children

Abstract

Portal hypertension is defined as:

  • Portal venous pressure >11 mmHg

  • Splenic pulp pressure >16 mmHg

  • Increase in hepatic venous pressure gradient (wedged hepatic venous pressure minus free hepatic venous pressure, normal range is 7–8 mm of Hg).
