Abstract
AVS+ is a national standard for audio and video compression in China, which has been widely used for broadcasting and survillance. Compution complexity and coding effiency are always the main concern in real-time practical applications. And image quality becomes critical and sensitice when coding at low bitrates. In this paper, we analysis the influence of skip mode in low bitrate condition and propose a novel fast skip decision scheme to achieve good trade-off between encoding speed and quality. We employ visual coding based on just noticeable distortion (JND) model to suppress residues for non-skip macroblocks. Simulated results show the proposed method can achieve 0.5 dB average gain in BDPSNR while maintaining real-time speed.
