Abstract
The MRI scan on the next page shows a patient whose memory is deteriorating. A deteriorating memory is one of the consequences of dementia. During the early stages of dementia, the patient mainly struggles to remember things which have happened or been said recently. There are several types of dementia, the best-known and most common type of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to memory loss, dementia impairs many other functions, such as problem-solving skills, learning skills and general information-processing skills.
