Abstract

In tropical countries, especially in areas where lymphatic filariasis is endemic, hematuria may be caused by filariasis (Narasanagi et al. 1970; Mahadevan 1974; Ghooi and Khanna 1976; Clarke 1981). Narasanagi et al. (1970) reported 32 patients with hematuria due to filariasis out of 50 cases of recurrent gross hematuria. Ghooi and Khanna (1976) encountered three cases of filarial hematuria out of 90 patients with filariasis. Das and Dandapat (1979) reported 3 patients with hematuria amongst 200 patients with filariasis.
