Abstract
The waste-for-health insurance initiative is an insurance scheme initiated by a group of young students as an attempt to solve the problem of healthcare deficiency and poor waste management in Indonesia. The main idea of the initiative is to use household waste as the main resource to cover the health insurance premium on a monthly basis. The initiative was considered innovative, progressive, and well received by the beneficiaries, which is the community. However, after an initial success, the initiative currently faces difficulties which threaten its future existence.
