Abstract

The chapter is insightful as it traces the origins of decent work concept. International Labour Office (ILO) conceptualised decent work in 1999. The chapter provides ILO’s perspective on the agenda of decent work. It also discusses the relevance and importance of decent work in today’s times and introduces the four pillars of decent work, namely, employment creation, social protection, rights at work and social dialogue.
