Abstract

The meaning, the essence and theory behind decent work have been thoroughly explained and discussed in this chapter. The authors explain the underlying philosophy of decent work and discuss perspectives of several economists on the same. The frameworks of decent work cover different elements right from conceptualising a general meaning of decent work to assessing and measuring it using index approach.
