Abstract

Admittedly, the Chinese literary history did not begin with Tao, but Tao’s nourishment and shaping of Chinese literature can only be matched by that of Qu Yuan (352–281 B.C.), Li Bai (701–762), and Du Fu (712–770). His naturally inclined personality, his natural philosophy, and his romantic naturalism are unique in Chinese literature.
