Abstract
Every equilibrium state can be represented by a typical pure quantum state, the thermal pure quantum (TPQ) state. I particularly focus on the TPQ state which corresponds to the canonical ensemble and show that any physical quantities of statistical-mechanical interest are obtained from a single realization of the TPQ state. With these findings, I formulate statistical mechanics based on the TPQ state.
