Suicide Among Adolescents and Young Individuals

Abstract

Suicide among adolescents and young adults constitutes a serious global public health problem. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for young individuals in many countries, and prevalence of attempted suicides by young individuals, especially among females, is also high. Because previous suicide attempts are a strong risk factor for a subsequent completion of suicide, these young suicide attempters can become a major high-risk group later in their lives.
