Abstract
The main purpose of this book was to articulate a narrative about the development and delivery of Teaching Living Legends, from which experiences and insights could be drawn for the professional development of music teachers, specifically in teaching music traditions that they were less familiar with. The first chapter addressed the complexities in terms of considerations about the interactions among identity, ethnomusicology in music education, adult learning, 21st Century Competencies, partnerships, and the community in professional development. The second chapter gave an account of the approach and processes in the planning of the Teaching Living Legends programme, which flowed into the third chapter’s discussion of the dilemmas and considerations that arose in the course of the programme.
