Abstract
The asymmetric interactions of various threats with inclined plates are discussed in this chapter. These asymmetric forces result in enhanced defeat mechanisms through shattering, deflecting and eroding of these threats. Most advanced armor designs, such as the explosive reactive armor (ERA), are based on such interactions. The basic defeat mechanisms behind these asymmetric interactions are accounted for by 3D numerical simulations, which are shown to be very useful for the optimal design of armor systems.
