Abstract
It was beyond my imagination that I may have to write a short sketch of my life. It is indeed a privilege to be a fellow of an academy that encourages doing so. I come from a family of teachers. My grandfather used to teach mathematics at colleges at Patna and Muzaffarpur in Bihar. He died in 1949 a few months after I was born.
