Abstract

As documented in Chinese poetry and proverbs, blood is a traditional representative of kin’s bond which is considered superior to other human relationships such as friendship. Similar discourses are found in Western proverbs, such as the one cited above. This indicates that the paramount importance of family relationship for an individual is consistent across different cultures.
