Abstract
Many readers, teachers, and students of Haruki Murakami who know his work exclusively through English translation have likely traveled a path similar to mine—finding Murakami late, reading his works in a mostly random order, and then being able to read his first two novels just available in English in 2015, Hear the Wind Sing and Pinball, 1973 (Murakami, 2015).
