Abstract

I wrote my first book at age 9. With what I thought were clever, subtle plot revisions, I ripped off Walter Farley’s novel, Flame. Captivated by a subterranean passageway to a hidden world (of horses no less!), I got to live in that world not only while reading but also in retelling my own version of the story (in mine the protagonist was a girl and the horse, a filly).
