Abstract
Contemporary globalization is characterized by increasingly rapid flows of people, capital, materials, cultural products and information between nations and hemispheres. The influences of these flows have also permeated into the daily life of schools. In recent years some educational researchers have called for an approach to social analysis that also transcends national and international borders (Weis & Fine, 2000).
