Abstract

I was interested to be able to acquire more systematic quantitative data from a whole year cohort in order to understand the incidence and nature of motivational and emotional variables across a more representative population (see research questions). The opportunity arose to survey a whole year 9 cohort (n=208) at a comprehensive school. It is a comprehensive foundation 11–19 school in the UK with approximately 1300 pupils.
