Abstract
Academic journeys are often fraught with internal struggles. My personal struggle relates to the enduring outside perception that scholarly work sits in isolation from the “real” world. My education taught me not to stand outside, separate, or over others, but rather to work with them. In doing so, we gain perspectives and see new possibilities.
