Abstract
At some point, people involved with loss acknowledge and assign a value to the loss. This is the second stage in the process, which results in an assessment of the relative value or severity of the loss. Each person, group, or community goes through this very individualized process. This assessment is based on personal life experiences, available resources, and the possible impact on self and others.
