Abstract

In this chapter, the objectives of the provisional measures will be outlined, i.e. the protection of the parties’ rights pendente lite and the avoidance of an aggravation of the dispute. These objectives will be presented taking into account the jurisdiction of the PCIJ and the ICJ, in cases heard by these courts.
