Abstract

They are sitting in the hallway They have been for weeks There are so many, they extend the full length of the hallway We squeeze past them many times a day We don’t mention them Family and friends skirt past them Some knowingly don’t comment Others do “Having a clean out are you?” No, this is no clean out Cleaning suggests mess, being dirty, Ridding ourselves of things that have no use Everything there is loved, treasured and yet sadly unused It is the ‘out’ that may bring use and yet they continue to stay in.
