Laurel Richardson identifies “a serious problem” in qualitative research: “topics are riveting and research valuable, but qualitative books are under read… Qualitative Research has to be read, not scanned; its meaning is in the reading” (Richardson, 1998, 2003, p.01). In this chapter I identify academic research that compelled me to engage, rather than scan, and to apply this to my own processes.
