Abstract

Art Peterson’s (1996) The Writer’s Workout Book: 113 Stretches Toward Better Prose offers a formidable collection of writing ideas through several themed chapters. “Know the Difference Between Funny and Unfunny Words” (p. 197) is a list writing exercise that calls on students to think of word pairs and their images and decide which are funny and not funny.
