Abstract
Respect is a commodity that needs to be earned, not simply demanded and subsequently granted. Earned respect is strong and enduring. True it builds slowly and gradually, but once rooted, it is difficult to displace. It is the plant with deep roots. Stresses have little impact on it. This type of respect withstands the vagaries of relationships, the natural ebbs and flows of life, and even the frontal assault of significant trauma.
