Abstract

There is broad agreement that political literacy is probably the most important issue in the quest for strong democracy (Barber, 1984).1 However, there is also agreement that schools alone cannot provide the student with an education in democratic values because it is in fact the family that is the primary moral educator of the child. Parents are children’s first moral teachers.
