Abstract

I was born (1946) and raised in Joure in the province of Friesland, one of the most northern provinces of the Netherlands. People from various backgrounds were always welcomed in our home. My father (1912–1989) came from a liberal Protestant tradition. My mother (1915–1991) belonged to a pietist movement in the Protestant Churches.
