Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the different factors that might contribute to the achievement test performance of students in the Biology 1 course. Key findings of this investigation showed that there is a substantial correlation between the grade and IQ of the students to the performance in achievement test. Other results showed that the teacher’s number of years in teaching the subject and the educational backgrounds do not affect the achievement test results. There is no difference on the achievement test results between students who graduated in private and public elementary schools. This shows that the student intrinsic factor plays an important role in the academic performance. However, it cannot be concluded that only such factor is accountable for the academic achievement of the students when multiple factors could be responsible for the observed outcome.
