Abstract

In the first decade of the third millennium, a consensus emerged on the public relevance of ‘learning about different religions’ in the European world. The worldshaking event of the attack on the World Trade Centre in New York in 2001, 9/11, is sure to be mentioned as a catalytic factor in any treatise on this topic. Religion, especially religious difference and confrontation (Samuel Huntington’s renowned formula of the ‘clash of civilizations’, on the trends of global conflict, is predominantly related to religions), has become a topic for debate globally.
