Teaching filmmaking helps students understand what they are offered on big, small and the computer screens (Farbman, 2005). They become skillful in asking questions about the purpose of sequential choices and how it can be represented off the screen or the page (Farbman). Students also learn how to find the most important sections of text, the storyline represented in the beginning, middle and end, and illustrate those sections as separate frames or images (Author, 2004).
