Abstract

Generally, decimals are taught after the introduction of fractions. However, at this level – middle school – we can cautiously assume that students understand that decimals are fractions of a whole. For the purpose of review and remediation, it is more practical for decimal interventions to immediately follow those of whole numbers because essentially they’re the same concept/principle.
