Is There A Life Form We Recognise in SSCs?

Abstract

The empirical research for the book was collected by both qualitative and quantitative methods as explained in Chapter 5. The evaluations of the early development of the SSC and the findings from the subsequent, formal research period (Barkas, 2008), were, therefore, extensive. I have drawn heavily on the existing text from the original study in this chapter but because the data collection was comprehensive and detailed, I have summarised sections to highlight the main findings, so for the purpose of illustration, I have chosen just one or two examples from each section to explain the issues discovered. I have therefore, divided the chapter into four sections.
