Abstract
This chapter examines the challenges faced by the pharmaceutical industry in developing metastable polymorphs of an API, and discusses some key advantages with examples. The new perspective of polymorph-directing crystallization using functionalised templates is also discussed. The basic principles and examples of heterogeneous template crystallisation are given.
