Abstract

Springtime in the Northwest, like in many places across the country, is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. At the University of Washington Botanic Gardens you can find rows upon rows of crops just beginning to sprout. However, the people tending the crops are not professional farmers, or even agriculture students at the university, but underprivileged youth from across the greater Seattle area.
