Abstract

The Union of Burma was admitted to membership in the United Nations on April 19, 1948. It is a party to the Statute of the International Court of Justice, but is not, as of the time of our going to press, subject to compulsory jurisdiction under Article 36 of its Statute.1 It is a member of the Postal Union and other international organizations.2
