General Biological significance of Desmolysis

  • Chapter
Biological Oxidation

Abstract

A comprehensive treatment of the historical and fundamental aspects of desmolysis will be found in Oppenheimer’s book “Die Fermente” (902)). Inasmuch as the fundamentals of desmolysis have not suffered drastic changes since the time at which that book was written, the present discussion aims not at repetition but rather at amplification and some redistribution of emphasis.
