Abstract

Whatever concerns plant-distribution belongs of necessity to sciences outside of botany. Vegetables are fed upon by animals, and travel together with animals over well worn paths which jointly interest all naturalists. This being the case, we may not enter our own investigation of dispersal without first looking around, and taking brief notice of certain works in the field of general biogeography.
