Immunogenetic Analysis of Intrabreed Structure of Genealogically Related Breeds
Intrabreed differentiation according to gene and genotype frequencies of blood group systems occurring in linebreeding and in conventional breeding methods of improvement of breeds was studied. An immunogenetic analysis was undertaken involving 20 antigens of 9 genetic blood group systems of intrabreed structures of 14 lines of major populations of the Ukrainian Steppe White breed and the Ukrainian Spotted breed derived from it (766 boars and sows). Considerable differentiation between these two related breeds and also intrabreed differentiation between lines has been established. Prolonged and severe line-breeding causes increase of the intrabreed differentiation. The temporary correlations between blood groups and productivity traits are formed and maintained in this way. It is suggested that for increased efficiency of the breed improvement in line-breeding immunogenetic analysis should be applied.
