Abstract
Every text you write — be it argumentative, descriptive or analytical — will in some sense be a personal text. It is indeed very difficult to totally conceal your own point of view on the subject you are writing about. In fact, the personal element pervades the whole text, being involved in such features as
-
the subjects you mention and the subjects you do not
-
the time you spend on each subject
-
the order of your arguments
-
the conclusions you arrive at
-
the emphasis you place on individual pieces of information
-
the words you choose
Not only will these features reveal how important you consider certain arguments relative to others, but some may also reveal your actual opinion.
