Abstract
This concise study was originally planned to comprise all of the five Central American countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. But as the study was being made, we realized that it was very difficult for us to obtain reliable information as to the application of the law from the other four countries excluding Guatemala. In consequence, the study will be concentrated on Guatemalan law, with references to the other Central American countries.
