The Reform of Family Law in the Socialist States



Before examining the questions of the legal equality of the spouses, the family status of the illegitimate child, and divorce, it may be useful to glance at the family law of the European Socialist States in general. In addition, the legal systems of these countries on these points, prior to the Second World War, should be recalled in brief because it is only by such a comparison that one can perceive the essential changes brought about in the regulation of the legal family relations in those European countries that have since become socialist.
