Abstract
Trust is an essential part of every day life and plays a role, whether conscious or subconscious, in almost every transaction. Despite its ubiquity (or perhaps because of it) there is no widely accepted definition of what ‘trust’ actually is or how it works. A simple dictionary definition describes trust as:
“...complete assurance and certitude regarding the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.” [MW]
