Abstract
Because most load bearing timber structures in the Netherlands have been made with European whitewood, much of the research both on the timber structures and on their joints has been directed to the use of this particular wood. In particular, it has been concerned with the needs for a code for the use of load bearing timber structures in buildings, T.G.B. (Technische grondslagen voor de berekening van bouwconstructies) 1972 — Hout.
