Abstract
Among all the thoughts and sensations which originate in the mind on the occasion of the body, there is none which is more disturbing or which causes the higher part of the mind to surrender more often to the lower part that those of pleasure and pain. That is why we should consider the nature of each of these carefully if we wish to maintain the mind’s control over the body and know how far our mind should surrender to the things to which they attract it.
