Abstract

The species of fishes that occur around Rocas Alijos have not yet been comprehensively documented. During the 1990 Cordell Expedition, fishes were documented by diver observations, by underwater photographs and video, and by specimens caught with hook-and-line and photographed on board the vessel. In this paper, I review these observations, provide identifications from the photographs and video, and augment the species list with other observations. Based on my own previous diving expeditions to Islas San Benitos to the north and Islas Revillagigedo to the south, I expected to see mainly warm water fishes, and this was confirmed.
